Dollar Tree is an American chain of discount variety stores. Each Dollar Tree store trades an assortment of items, including national, Private-label, and regional brands. Each Dollar tree store has several departments, including books, houseware, dinnerware, health and beauty, stationery, teaching supplies, electronics, party supplies, pet food, cleaning supplies, food and snacks, craft supplies, automotive, gifts, seasonal décor, candy, and toys.
How Does It Work
Dollar Tree, like many other Dollar stores, manages to keep all prices in the $1 range with these methods:
- Situating near low-income communities: Dollar trees set up their stores near low-income communities as residents with lower incomes prefer shopping at dollar stores rather than big grocery stores.
- Stocking smaller sizes: Buyers think all $1 purchases are good deals. However, all dollar tree items are much smaller, allowing the $1 price. Customers do not realize they would have to spend more to buy enough to meet the required sizes.
- Short-staffed: Dollar tree keeps staff numbers at a minimum to further enable the delivery of convenient $1 prices.
